Suffern PD: Man stabbed wife and female friend in front of their children

Authorities say Juan Monge-Jacome, 43, was arrested after domestic dispute at apartment on Lafayette Avenue

Suffern police received a call for a domestic dispute at 86 Lafayette Avenue which involved a possible stabbing early Sunday morning. When officers arrived, they found two victims behind the apartment along with two young children.

One of the victims is the wife of 43-year-old Juan Monge-Jacome. Police say she had head injuries and the second victim, a 38-year-old woman from Suffern and friend of the wife, had several stab wounds on her back.

The second victim's boyfriend, who goes by “Gato,” says he and Juan have been friends for 15 years and can't understand why his friend would allegedly do this to his girlfriend after they all came from a party.

"I tell you, all the time, he come in the store and sometimes drink, me and him, but never do that," “Gato” said.

After police checked on the victims, they went in the apartment and took Monge-Jacome into custody.

Investigators say as soon as the suspect came home, he began attacking both women. First, knocking his wife to the ground and kicking her in front of their children. Then he picked up a knife which and threatened his entire family.

The other woman jumped in front to protect them when she was stabbed in the back. Eventually, the four managed to escape.

Monge-Jacombe was charged with second-degree felony assault and attempted assault along with ten other combined misdemeanors and violations. He was arraigned and sent to Rockland County Jail on $75,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in village court Tuesday.
