Shannon Bobbitt was in Mount Vernon on Saturday to lead a basketball clinic for underprivileged girls who take part in the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation.

“It’s so important for our kids to be active,” Shannon Morris, of the SASF said, “they’re developing confidence, they’re becoming leaders, they’re learning to how to work with each other.”

Bobbitt, a Bronx native who grew up playing basketball on neighborhood courts, said she saw a little bit of herself in all of the girls who attended Saturday’s event.
