Suspected wrong-way driver in Bronx River Parkway crash charged

Diego Caceres, 32, faces charges of aggravated assault and 1st-degree reckless endangerment

YONKERS — Thirty-two-year-old Diego Caceres faces charges of aggravated assualt and first-degree reckless endangerment in connection to a Feb. 9 wrong-way crash on the Bronx River Parkway.

According to police, Caceres was driving a Nissan Murano south in the northbound lanes of the Parkway at around 3 a.m. when he crashed into a Dodge Suburban carrying a family of six from Coral Srpings, Florida. Caceres and all six passengers in the Suburban were injured, but no one was killed in the crash.

Caceres is currently being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 21.
