Yonkers cracks down on illegal dumping

Police say they will impound any car used for illegal dumping, increasing patrols and using covert surveillance to fight the problem

YONKERS - Police in the city say they are stepping up efforts to stop illegal dumping by increasing patrols and using covert surveillance. Residents say they see trash on the city's streets frequently, a source of ongoing frustration.

"It's not right. We need our community clean and healthy for the kids," said Escarlet Georgte.

Police say that they will impound any car used for illegal dumping, along with issuing fines which can total as much as $15,000.
