Picking a university is often a difficult choice for students and families—for hundreds of students in Yonkers, the same drive to find the right university is just as important as choosing the right high school.

Students, like Randolph Mediana, attended the School Choice Fair at the Saunders Trades and Technical High School in Yonkers to find out more about programs that might help them find their niche.

It's an opportunity for new students and those entering elementary middle or high school to meet with teachers and current students to learn about a school they'll choose for the 2017 academic year.

Mediana wants to attend an engineering program so he decided Saunders High School would make a good fit.

"I saw all the different programs they offered, such as graphic design, architecture, and graphic design, and the robotics program I hear they have," Mediana said.

Yonkers Superintendent Doctor Edwin Quezada hopes students and parents leave the event feeling more confident in their child's choice.

"Sending a four year old into one of our schools could be very stressful, so this gives parents a real opportunity to see our schools and all the opportunity we have for their children," Quezada said.

Students in Yonkers can officially select their school of choice beginning in February.
