Students look towards higher education at Yorktown Heights college fair

Nearly 3,000 parents and students attended the Westchester-Putnam College Conference

Nearly 3,000 students and parents attended the Westchetster-Putnam College Conference on Thursday to learn about their various options for higher education.

During the event, hundreds of representatives from various institutions of higher education took the time to answer questions and provide insight about their schools.

Parents said that their biggest concern was tuition, but now, with the state's Excelsior Scholarship Program available to a large number of middle-class families, many gravitate towards the SUNY schools.

The state's tuition-free program began this fall, and will be phased in over the next three years.
