Nonprofit helps Newark public schools' music programs, donates music instruments

VH1 Save The Music Foundation donates a total of 250 instruments to 7 public schools in need


Students at the Camden Street School on Tuesday got to meet some VH1 stars and their school was given 35 instruments to help enhance their music program.

The school is one of seven Newark public schools to receive instruments from the VH1 Save The Music Foundation which helps schools in need.

Fourth grader Xanaria Jackman tells FiOS1 News she hopes to learn how to play the violin.

"It's really special for me because I get to see some instruments I haven't seen in real life," says Jackman.

In a program, actor and musician Algee Smith talked with the students, encouraged them to follow their dreams and believe in themselves.

A total of 250 instruments were given to the seven Newark schools in need.
