Paterson's Eastside High School loses appeal on ban from basketball tourney

The state athletic board ruled that Eastside violated several recruiting rules

The season hasn't started yet, but Paterson's Eastside High School basketball program still took a major loss on Wednesday, when the NJSIAA voted unanimously to uphold penalties against the school and head coach Juan Griles.

In June, the state athletic board ruled that Eastside had violated several recruiting rules by bringing in foreign born players. Part of the penalty includes a two-year state tournament ban.

Eastside is appealing the decision.
