Enrollment woes force closure of Catholic school in Ringwood

The St. Catherine Bologna School has been open since 1948

RINGWOOD - The St. Catherine of Bologna School opened 70 years ago in 1948, but it's time is finally coming to a close as the Diocese of Paterson says that a decrease in students is forcing them to close the school's doors.

According to the Diocese, last year, the school only had 164 students enroll and by the end of the year, they had lost 70 students. The number of students registered for the upcoming year is said to have not been enough to be sustainable for the school.

The school and the Diocese of Paterson are now helping parents find other Catholic schools as well as helping the teachers find positions within the Diocese.
