ELIZABETH — Amenul Hoque and his wife Rojina Akter came to America from Bangladesh 14 years ago and began raising a family of three children together.

But now, their future in the United States is in jeopardy. Twenty-two days ago, Amenul was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and is currently in Louisiana awaiting deportation back to Bangladesh.

"Twenty-two days now, I have not seen my husband," Rojina said. "My kids have not seen their father; every single day they are crying, 'Mama, mama, when is he coming back?'"

Rojina says that Amenul was detained despite the fact that they have never missed an appointment with immigration officials. She says that she has another meeting with immigration officials looming on Feb. 15 and is afraid of what her future may hold.

"I have three kids. Maybe they'll catch me and put me in a detention center. I don't want to lose my kids, I want to stay with them," Rojina said.
