Jay Moss, 30, is being hailed as a hero for saving the life of a 50-year-old woman from Cranford whose SUV drove into the Passaic River.

Witness say that Moss was just on the other side of the river at his gym in Lyndhurst on Monday morning, and upon seeing the woman’s car go into the water, drove across the river and jumped into the water to try to save the woman’s life.

“I couldn’t open it at first, it was scary,” Moss said. “I popped my leg up and saw no-one coming for help, I pulled it open and grabbed her.”

By the time emergency crews arrived, Moss had pulled the woman from the water.

It is still unclear how the woman ended up in the water.
