LINCROFT — A ribbon-cutting ceremony at Brookdale Community College celebrated the opening of the new Knowledge Empowers Youth and Sobriety Recovery High School, also known as K.E.Y.S. Academy.

Thanks in part to a $1.3 million grant from the state, the academy is partnering with Brookdale to use classrooms on the campus to help a maximum of 24 students focus on a recovery program.

Staff say that the program is designed to be a bridge to help students attain their diploma while catering to their educational, emotional and social needs.
