NEWARK — Immigration activists in Newark demanded change from the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Thursday evening, protesting over a contract that the county holds with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency in which they are allowed to house some detained immigrants in the Essex County Correctional Facility for a daily fee.

Activists say that the facility can hold up to 850 immigrant detainees, and that having the facility there is wrong.
