Jersey City hosts large-scale active shooter drill for first responders and civilians

The drill looked to make first responders as efficient as possible in a real-life situation

JERSEY CITY — A active shooter training drill was held on Friday at the New Jersey City University's School of Business, aimed at acting as intensive training for civilian volunteers but also for the police, EMTs and first responders who participate.

The city partnered with Tomahawk Strategic Solutions, a company that runs the scenario and trains first responders to be as efficient as possible if the real thing were to happen.

The city has been holding the drills since 2015, and officials say they are looking to hold two more this year.
