NEWARK – Thanksgiving came early for some in Newark.

The traditional feast was served by New York Jets player Terrence Brooks, while celebrity chef Carlo Filippone cooked. The meal was hosted at the Apostles House on Broad Street, which provides meals and housing to families in need.

"I was brought up in a community that was really unfortunate,” said Brooks. “And to be in the position I'm in today and to be able to come back and pull people up from those communities, I feel like that's what all people should do."

In addition to serving weekday meals to 80 families a week, the Apostles House also provides a temporary housing shelter, a community food pantry and a clothes closet.
