Holocaust Remembrance Day: Concentration camp survivor from Morris Plains shares his story

Ed Mosberg hopes history doesn't repeat itself

MORRIS PLAINS — In light of Holocaust Remembrance Day, FiOS1 News sat down with Edward Mosberg, 92, a survivor whose story is still very much fresh in his mind and should never be forgotten.

"I had grandparents, I had parents, I had two sisters, I had uncles, aunts, and cousins, and I am the only survivor," says Mosberg.

Mosberg met his wife, Cecile when he was searching for his two sisters after the war at a farm where survivors were taken. His sisters weren't there and did not make it out alive from the concentration camps.

Also a survivor, Cecile still has a tattoo on her wrist of her number given to her by the Nazis.

"Some people are ashamed they survived, including my wife. She was always hiding the number on her arm. She didn't want anyone to see it,” says Mosberg. “Some survivors tried to erase it. I never did. I [will] always show my bracelet so people can see it."

Mosberg says he hasn't been able to forgive the people who killed his family, but he hopes sharing his story will prevent history from repeating itself.

“This is my duty and obligation in memory of my family that [was] murdered and the six million Jews."
