JERSEY CITY — New security measures will be implemented to parts of the city high in crime. Jersey City's CCTV program will install 40 new surveillance cameras. The new technology is said to produce images five times clearer than ever before. The system will use four high definition cameras at intersections near high crime areas. Officials say the cameras will provide more coverage at each of the locations, many of which are along Ocean Avenue. The new surveillance equipment will allow authorities to monitor areas in real-time, helping police with investigations. Officials say the cameras can also be helpful in evacuation and emergency situations.

With the addition of the new equipment, there will be nearly 200 cameras up, throughout the city.
