Ridgewood school district police investigate series of fights

RIDGEWOOD — Students at Ridgewood High School are speaking out after a brutal fight left a student severely injured.

"I've never really witnessed anything so barbaric and so violent at this school," says high school senior Carlee Molina.

The fight was recorded on Snapchat and spread throughout the high school.

The video shows students watching as the teen was being kicked, punched and knocked unconscious.

The fight was one of two that took place on one of the school's athletic fields late last month involving the same student.

The school district police are now investigating the fights.

Students say the altercation started with inappropriate pictures circulating around the high school of the injured student's girlfriend and ended with the student agreeing to a planned physical fight.

The injured student was involved in both fights that occurred on campus and suffered a fractured skull. He is still in the hospital recovering.

A family member of the student says he may completely lose his sight in one eye.

The board of education is holding a meeting at the school Monday night with parents, students and teachers to discuss the incident.
