FAIR LAWN — Firefighters had to rescue several people who were trapped in a van after the vehicle's driver drove into a Fair Lawn home.

The van belongs to The Arc, a community services organization that provides transportation to people with physical and developmental disabilities.

According to police, the driver of the van was a 28-year-old woman from Hackensack who became confused when driving out of a parking lot on the corner of 17th Street and Zink Place.

The driver and aid on board were both taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, with head and neck injuries.

Two passengers with developmental disabilities were taken to the hospital.

A building inspector has deemed the house that was hit unsafe to live in but said it is not in danger of collapsing.

Officials say the van caused more than $10,000 in damage.
