NJ's Fair Housing Council celebrates 50 years

Decades later, and 'the fact that we still have to fight this fight is tragic'

HACKENSACK — The Fair Housing Council of New Jersey celebrated their 50 anniversary on Friday. The Fair Housing Act was signed into law in 1968 to ensure that all residents have an equal opportunity to rent, purchase, or finance a home regardless of their race, religion, age, or disabilities. The council manages about 3,000 cases each year, but race continues to be a top issue.
