NORTH ARLINGTON — A 44-year-old man has been arrested after authorities said he sexually assaulted a child.

An investigation into Daniel Rente of Vanderbilt Place was launched back on Jan. 10 when the North Arlington Police Dept. received a report that Rente inappropriately touched a child younger than 16 years old. The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said this happened on several occasions. Officials also said Rente allegedly exposed himself to the child.

Police have not released the age or gender of the victim.

Rente was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count each of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the prosecutor's office.

Rente is scheduled to appear in front of a judge at the Bergen County Courthouse Thursday afternoon.
