September is Hunger Action Month and every year millions of people are left not knowing what their next meal will be, and that includes senior citizens.

It’s almost lunch time and more than 60 seniors in Perth Amboy who are eagerly waiting to receive a hot meal. They’re being served chicken cordon bleu with a side of pasta and peas, which got a "thumbs up" of approval.

Every day at 11:30 a.m., seniors are served a complete meal that includes soup or a salad and some type of vegetable.

Lissette Martinez is the deputy director of Human Services Office of Aging for the city and says while meals are free and funded through multiple grants, the center also accepts donations in an effort to ensure no seniors go hungry.

The center also does home deliveries through its Meals on Wheels program.

The center hopes to receive more funding and donations so they can also offer breakfast for seniors in the future.
