Millburn volleyball coach accused of molesting teen

MILLBURN — The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office says that Peter Nguyen was arrested Tuesday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, sexual contact with a minor and giving alcohol to a minor after allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl.

Investigators said that on two separate occasions, Nguyen took the teen to his home, gave her alcohol, then inappropriately touched the victim sexually.

Nguyen is the head coach for the Millburn High School volleyball team, and is also the bookkeeper on the Board of Education. Officials say that the victim was a member of the Impact Volleyball Club in Rahway, where Nguyen also coached.

Officials from the Millburn School District said that the board is unable to comment about the employee's terms and conditions of employment or the specific allegations made against the employee.

Nguyen is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center, he has a detention hearing scheduled for Feb. 16.
