NEWARK - A rainbow flag was raised at city hall on thursday as part of Newark's 2018 Pride Week, which is being called "Newark Pride 360" this week.

The event did take a serious turn, however, as several speakers referred to what they believe could be the potential consequences of recently announced Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh being confirmed.

"All of the progress that had been made in this country under President Obama has been jeopardized and I think more than anybody, the LGBTQ community should be alarmed, aware and organized," said Mayor Ras Baraka.
