Newark launches crowd-funding platform for female entrepreneurs

the 'iFund Women Initiative' is designed to help more women build their businesses

The city of Newark is working to help female entrepreneurs grow their businesses by launching the first crowd-funding platform for female entrepreneurs called iFund Women.

"This helps us help women get those dreams out of their head and actually make it real and say I can make this happen," said Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.

The initiative is designed as a one-stop resource for anyone who wants to support the launch of female-led businesses through financial contributions.

The platform will officially launch in the fall of 2017. The deadline for entries is Thursday, September 21. All applicants will be vetted to make sure their businesses are legitimate and a group of businesses will be selected to feature on the site's launch.
