WESTFIELD — The Westfield Blue Devils (4-3) survived a 2nd-half charge to win 8-7 in overtime over the Chatham Cougars (5-4) at Gary Kehler Stadium in Westfield. Princeton-bound midfielder Nick Bond had 2 goals and an assist and Holy Cross-bound Jack McCauley made 7 saves as the Blue Devils took a 6-1 lead into halftime. Yet Chatham came back by winning every single faceoff in the 2nd half, and Connor Byrd's 3rd goal tied the game and forced OT. In the extra frame, Westfield finally won a faceoff, and Jake Engelke completed his own hat trick to get the Blue Devils the victory. Nick Bond and CJ Duffy each had 2 goals for Westfield- Bond added 2 assists- while Max Schelling had 2 goals and 1 assist for Chatham. Both teams return to action on Saturday, as Chatham hosts Delbarton and Westfield plays at Summit.
