Parkland school shooting survivors visit Newark to talk gun control, activism

Alfonso Calderon and Jaclyn Corin spoke at Science Park High School to encourage students to get involved in politics

NEWARK — "There's this false notion that because you're a kid, you can't do something or you can't have a voice or you can't have an impact."

Those were the words of Parkland school shooting survivor Alfonso Calderon, who, along with fellow survivor Jaclyn Corin, visited Science Park High School on Saturday to encourage students to get involved in politics to help find a solution to gun violence.

"Our community is broken forever, and we don't want anyone else to go through that," said Corin.
