NJ Transit delays, cancellations continue amid renovation

Riders say the summer has been worse than last year's commuter crisis

NEWARK — Gov. Phil Murphy has vowed to completely revamp the New Jersey Transit since the beginning of the year. However, wide-spread cancellations have become more frequent with the rail system, and frustration grows among commuters. According to transit officials, installing Positive Train Control has been one of the reasons as to why there has been a growing number of delays and cancellations, along with staffing.

By the end of summer, NJ Transit will be adding nine new engineers to its roster, but, reportedly, 40 more are still needed.
