Parents are saying they are upset, but not surprised by the news of contamination of water in almost half of Newark’s schools.

According to the New York Times, a school staffer may have warned the district about testing the water back in 2014. In the report, Keith Barton, the Managing Director of Operations for the district sent an urgent memo to run the water for 30 seconds before drinking, and two minutes before preparing food, in order to reduce the risk of lead contamination.
