Officials in Union County honor veterans who were POWs or went MIA

A emotional ceremony paid tribute to the men and women who did not return home


On Friday, Union county officials held a emotional ceremony for the annual Prisoners of War, Missing in Action Remembrance Day to honor the military veterans that did not return home from wars overseas.

"The people that are missing are all former service members, men who came went to battle who were wither captured and made prisoner of war, made every attempt to escape, some did, some didn't, and those who never came back who were missing in action," said Richard Thompson, the Union County Veteran Service Officer.

Prisoner of War, Missing in Action Remembrance Day is celebrated nationwide on September 21.
