NEWARK - The Community FoodBank of New Jersey and the Urban League of Essex County were both the recipients of a $500,000 donation from United Airlines on Wednesday.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey provides more than food for the hungry, it also provides a food service training academy and a 15-week culinary program providing skills for entry-level jobs in the food service industry.

Meanwhile, the Urban League of Essex County provides job training classes to 10,000 people a year.

President of New York/New Jersey for United Airlines Jill Kaplan said that the non-profits were carefully chosen.

"To see the individuals that these dollars are helping to create pathways for and have made meaningful difference in their lives, and then the others that will benefit from that, it chokes me up," Kaplan said.
