Watchung man accused of fraud, tax evasion

Pedro Carbajal, 43, was arrested after the discovery of allegedly fraudulent activities coming out of ‘Options Staffing’

PATERSON — Pedro Carbajal, 43, of Watchung, has been arrested and accused of fraud and tax evasion for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the "Options Staffing," a New Jersey company that provides temporary workers for warehouse, loading dock, and trucking jobs. Passaic County Prosecutor Camilla Valdez says that it has estimated that Carbajal over-billed the company $700,000 during a 14-month period between 2013 and 2014.

In addition to theft and failure to pay taxes, Carbajal also allegedly failed to have workers compensation for employees by filling out fraudulent W2 forms. He is facing at least 5-10 years in prison, and authorities say he worked alongside two other secretaries who are also under investigation.
