WEST CALDWELL — School officials at James Caldwell High School placed the facility on lockdown on Saturday after a post on social media that raised concerns.

A music production was underway at the school when officials ushered everyone in the school into the auditorium and asked them to stay there.

"A rumor's flying around about what it cold be," said Christopher Maslak, a student. "I don't want to say anything until I know for sure."

Superintendent James Heinegg says that a voicemail went out to parents at 4 p.m. informing them that the lockdown was lifted. While the lockdown has been lifted, all activities at the school have been canceled for the remainder of the evening.

Officials say that the incident is under investigation by the West Caldwell Police Department.
