Will new Millburn school open on time?

With just days to go until the new school year, the Washington School on Spring Street is still unfinished

Yellow caution tape, construction trucks and ladders still surrounds the Washington School on Spring Street in Millburn, and there is some concern over whether the building will be ready for the first day of school on Sept. 5.

However, the school's principal, Peter Mercurio, says there is no need to be concerned.

"People should not worry about opening, the teachers are in the classrooms getting everything set up," Mercurio said.

The school is expected to house nearly 450 students and will come equipped with laptops, iPads and wireless internet in each classroom and cater solely to students in the 5th grade. The district has shown the progress of work being done on the building in videos on YouTube.
